A CJS Journal Page And A New Stamp

Here is my latest page
in my Creative Jump Start Journal.

Once again I tried using
a lot of different mediums, paints and inks.

Purchased a Christy Tomlinson
She was a daughter stamp... isn't she fabulous. Can't wait to try this out.

I've got a dilly of a headache
today, so I'll cut this short. Have a great Monday!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy

I have a happy birthday
card to show you today... one I made for my sweet daughter-in-law.

The papers are a mix of
October Afternoon Attic Truck, Graphic 45 Domestic Goddess and Pink Paislee Oyster Bar. The polka dot paper came from one of the Pixie Dust Paperie kits... sorry, I can't remember which as I made this before we went on our Virginia trip. The die-cut is from OA Farmhouse Miscellany.

The flowers are all from
I Am Roses and Recollections. The stick pins and paper doily are from my stash.

The hearts were cut with
Spellbinder's Classic Hearts. The bit of lace is from my stash.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Thanks for the visit!
Hugs!

A Tag Page

I was visiting Anne's blog
and absolutely fell in love with the tags she had made. Since I had planned on playing around with my paint and ink to make a page for my journal, I decided to give her technique a try.

It didn't turn out nearly as
pretty as hers, but I'm pleased with the effect of the Perfect Pearls mixed with the Distress Ink.

I used the Interference Violet PP
with Dusty Concord and Seedless Preserves DI.

The paper is an old Deja Views
8x8 pad called Blue Raspberry. The sentiment and text are by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. The deer was cut with Alterations Mini Reindeer & 25. Also used were Gathered Twigs DI, Snow Cap Dabber paint, Picket Fence Distress Stain, brown burlap string and natural jute. All in all, I'm happy for a little more experience in the field of mixed media.

A New Creative Jump Start Journal Page

Slowly but surely
I'm nearing the end of my Creative Jump Start Summit 2012 journal. The pages have gotten so full that the book itself can't come close to closing and the spine is very near to tearing apart. Had I any idea of the size that this was going to end up, I most definitely would have chosen a larger one. Well... live and learn!
This is the page I did
 yesterday featuring Heidi Swapp...

I've been spending quite
a bit of time following  Christy Tomlinson's blog and watching her YouTube videos in hopes of picking up some of her amazing talent for mixed media work. There is just something relaxing or freeing in playing around with gesso, inks and paint... kind of like when I was a little girl standing at my red wagon and mixing up mud pies... (but I hope this looks better than that!)
 The trees, flowers and locket
on the chain are all stamps I received in the giveaway from Cheryl Nelson (thanks again, Cheryl... I love these). The other stamps I used are from the Stampers Anonymous Bitty Grunge set. The Golden molding paste was applied over a Crafter's Workshop Chicken Wire stencil. I used various craft paints from my stash, Ranger's Snow Cap Dabber paint, Patina and Meadow Green Glimmer Mist, Scintillating Silver Glitz Spritz, Worn Lipstick and Forest Moss Distress Inks and Archival Ink in black. My gesso is from Liquitex and the Mod Podge is the matte variety. The piece of lace is vintage and from my stash.

Fancy Fold Card

Yesterday I decided to try
making a get well card using an idea Bona posted last week. She in turn got the inspiration from Dawn. Well, I can honestly say they are far better crafter's than I am. I ruined two gorgeous sheets of Webster's Pages before I finally got wise and pulled out an old Botanical Garden paper pad by s-e-i to try for the third time. I still don't know what I was doing wrong, but thankfully the kinks worked themselves out. Here is that third attempt...

The bloom is from
Frog Feathers on Etsy. I strung three silver beads onto beading wire and glued them into the center. The light yellow crinkled seam binding from Prairie Bird Boutique is to hold the card closed.

The inside blooms are
gray velvet hydrangeas from Petaloo.

The sentiments were
stamped with my Joy for the Journey set from Verve. I used Spellbinder's Labels One and Bird #5 and Branch w/Leaves, both from Sizzix. My bird is glittered up with Stickles Clear Rock Candy and Vintage Photo Distress Ink is on all the paper edges.

I left the center section
blank so I can write a personal note when I send the card.

You can make this into
a cute mini album as well, or add a photo to the first fold as Bona did with hers. Now that I have the hang of this, I've got to make a few more!

Happy Mother's Day

The May challenge at
Pixie Dust Paperie is a Mother's Day themed one.

Kirsty has given us a
beautiful inspirational photo this month. Now, what sort of loveliness can you create for Mother's Day.

For my Design Team project,
I went to my stash for some old papers from Creative Imaginations with a vintagey, shabby chic look and teamed them with white, canvas textured cardstock to create this Mother's Day card. The edges were sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

I added a layer of die-cuts...
Spellbinders Lacey Circles and  Classic Scalloped Circles... a paper doily, Queen & Co pearls, and I Am Roses tiny blossoms that were misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang Scintillating Silver Glitz Spritz.

I made this flower using
white tulle, Crinoline from Joanns, and my Spellbinders Blossom die. It was misted with SS Glitz Spritz and glittered with Twinklets Diamond Dust. The center is a vintage button topped with a pearl and more glitter. The leaves are from I Am Roses and the pink acrylic sprays are from my stash.

The corner resin piece
is a Prima Shabby Chic Treasure, also misted with SS Glitz Spritz.

The lace and pearl trim
are from my stash and the sentiment was stamped with an old set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.
Be sure to visit the
rest of the DT's blogs to see what they've created for you.

Back Home

Just a quick post
to say we are back home after a most enjoyable stay in the mountains of Virginia. Our dear friends gave us the use of their condo at the Massanutten Resort near Harrisonburg. This area saw some of the most brilliant of Stonewall Jackson's maneuvering tactics during our American Civil War, and we, once again, took full advantage of our stay to visit these sites.
I chose out a few
of our photos to show you...

I just had to show you
these two I took in the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond...
can you believe they had commercially-made embossed card stock in the 1860's... I was amazed!

This guy could have
won some of our challenges... beautiful work!!!
I'll be back tomorrow
with my new Design Team project for Pixie Dust Paperie... hope to see you then.

Thanks for stopping by today!
Hugs!
