An Altered Frame

First... I want to say
thank you to all the new followers who have added their name to my list. I so appreciate it, and love having you all come to see what I've been making. You guys are the best!!! I hope I can in some way encourage or inspire you, as you all do for me. I spend a great deal of time looking at your blogs, You Tube videos and Ustreams. Retirement is such a happy time, friends!

A couple of years ago,
I purchased a quantity of these wood frames on close-out, used a few and promptly forgot I had the rest. After watching this You Tube video by Miranda, I was inspired to use her ideas on a frame... and then I remembered these forgotten gems tucked away in my studio closet.

I pulled one out,
gave it a coat of gesso, and applied the Pink Paislee Hope Chest paper with an application of Mod Podge. Using the Ledger stencil by Crafters Workshop, I put down some molding paste.

I sprayed on a bit
of Lindy's T-Bird Turquoise Flat Fabio and Clam Bake Beige Starburst. Then brushed on more gesso, spraying it with water and dabbing up the excess with a paper towel. After drying with my hair dryer (a long story- still waiting on a replacement Heat Tool from Ranger), it was ready to embellish.

The Alterations Weathered
Clock is cut from chipboard. I brushed it with a coat of gesso, dabs of Distress Stain in Tarnished Brass and finally Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.

The ornate metal key
and key hole by Graphic 45 were dry brushed with gesso to blend in with the shabbiness. The pearls are by Queen & Company.

Peeking out from under
the I Am Roses flowers and leaves, is a Prima resin Shabby Chic Treasure and a piece of cheesecloth. In with the flowers are some fern and leaves cut with Spellbinder's Foliage die set. They were brushed with gesso to continued the shabby look... and I think that's it! I added the photo of the Penmaker and I at our son's wedding last month... my, how time has a way of flying by!

Disneyworld Adventure

While I'm writing this
in my snug craft room, it's snowing like crazy outside and I'm remembering being in Florida.

We made this teacup (the
yellow one) spin so fast that we couldn't walk straight when we got out.

We had such a wonderful
time together, that I wanted the kids to always remember it.

So I decorated these
Michaels wood frames for them and added our photo with the castle in the background. The paper is from an older Fancy Pants 8x8 Designer Pad called The Daily Grind. I thought he doodles coordinated well with the Disney cartoon characters and the color was a perfect match with the blue on the 3-D castle sticker. The black alphas are Authentique Petite Type Squares.

I Am Roses and Recollections
florals that are sprayed with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist. Crystal sprays from an Etsy shop.

Our tickets from the
park with Prima Vintage Trinkets.

My Year In Review... 2011

This is my second post for today.

I'm really enjoying the "year in
review" posts so many of you have done, so I thought I'd give it a shot, too. I hope you'll like looking through some of my favorites I've created for my first blogging year... 2011.

Decor For A Darling

My daughter, Sarah, recently asked me if I would make her first born
(one of my three darling granddaughters) two frames with Bible verses to hang in her bedroom. I made her these:

The frames are wood so I sealed them with a coat of white acrylic paint. When
dry, I brushed on a coat of Mod Podge and topped with the selected paper and smoothed out with the edge of my wood ruler to release any air bubbles. I cut out the center with my craft knife and a #11 X-Acto blade, then trimmed all excess paper along the sides. I gave all the edges a nice, smooth finish by sanding them with a heavy duty emory board.

This is My Mind's Eye Market Street "Lovely" - French Stripe DP. The roses
and leaf trim I purchased from shops on Etsy, and the pink sheer ribbon is Joanns.

Pastel pink cardstock came from my ever increasing stash. The banner flags
and alphas are My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy - Tickled Pink Banner Stickers.

The banner is hung with bakers twine (another Etsy find) and this is the same
lace you see showing up on most every card I've made lately. This was one of those purchases you come across once in a great while and wish to tell the whole world about because of the earth shattering low price. And yes, I bought all that was on the bolt!

Have a Happy Day!

Another Springtime Pixie Frame

Still another project from my Springtime Pixie Kit. Made this for our living room. We need a little springtime and to go along with this frame is a gorgeous day. It's going to 40 degrees here and the sun is shinning... beautiful.

Family Fun With My February Kit

Completed my first project with my Pixie Dust Paperie Kit for February... an altered frame for my daughter's new 50's red kitchen. I just love this October Afternoon paper called Flour Sack. Added a couple other paper scraps from my stash, one of the October Afternoon Wild Cards, a vintage button from The Girls' Paperie and a few other odds and ends I have been stockpiling.
... Now on with the next... Let it snow!

Paper Creations

Have been working on a lot of different paper items the last two weeks. Made this last one for my sister. That's us in the wagon... good times!
