Pocket Box Mini Album... Stephanie Miller Inspired

In April, the dynamic
bundle of scrappy happy energy... Steff Miller, posted a fabulous Mini Album in a Box that she was inspired to make from a pin by Jenny Dahlqvist. To my sorrow, Steff didn't do a tutorial. I, among so many others, commented that we really just had to have one... please! Well, being the fantastic lady that she is, Steff came through, and last week did her Live with Prima spot showing, step by step, how to make her Pocket Box Mini. I was quite eager to follow along...

Lots of photos,
I know... minis are hard to photograph if you want to show it all. I wanted to use up a lot of scraps and older papers and supplies... so I pulled out...
Prima's Fairy Belle collection

Please be sure to
pop over to Steff's blog and see all her amazing mini albums... then watch her create them on her You Tube channel. She is one amazing woman!

Creative Jump Start #6

You may have
noticed that my Jump Start pages aren't in order. I like to switch things up a bit, especially if I don't have the product on hand that the girls are using. Like #6. Nat's techniques were with foam stamps, and I don't own any. So, I just sat that day aside until I determined that I wouldn't be getting any new stamps soon. Then I went ahead and created a page without them...

This background is
done in Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists... Meadow Green, English Ivy and Patina. Did the ghosting technique using my new 12" Crafter's Workshop Paradise stencil.

I used three
different stamps with both Jet Black and Aquamarine Archival ink and applied some soft gel medium in various spots using that same CW stencil. When the soft gel was dry, I lightly sponged Vintage Photo Distress ink over it for just a hint of color.

I love the subtile
texture the soft gel medium gives the page.

I layered on
a little My Mind's Eye Portobello Road paper from a 6x6 pad along with Stella & Rose trims. Hummm... I think that aqua trim is upside down... but that just adds to the grungy look... right? I finished up with tiny wooden clothes clips and Idea-ology Salvage Stickers.

Soaring Along

For a change of
pace, I created a tag using some older Graphic 45 papers... Communique, Steampunk Debutante and Le Cirque. I'm a huge fan of Graphic 45, but actually don't have many of their papers in my stash. I think I'll be changing that fact in the near future. Here's what I made...

I have a ton of
elements on this little piece of manila paper... the focus being this black bird with the light bulb.

However, I think he
may have gotten over shadowed by the pen nibs. What do you think? This chipboard piece is sitting on top of a die cut from Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles.

The mini gears,
fasteners, and pen nib are all Idea-ology. I love the quality of their metal products and usually reach for their brand over the others... and I always purchase them on sale or with a coupon making them the better buy.

The clock is a
scrap of Core'dinations embossed cardstock that I sanded. Beneath it is a pocket cut with Alterations Pocket Envelope with the top flap folded to the inside.

The #5 tag is lined
with Idea-ology Filmstrip ribbon, a Graphic 45 Staples tag and a Steampumk chipboard clock. Mays Arts black burlap string and wrinkled seam binding are tied through the holes in the tags.

A Little Stitchery

On Tuesday the
Penmaker and I took a trip to Berlin in the heart of Amish country. It's about a 25 minute drive on back roads mostly through farm lands. We love it! of course, I just had to run into one of my favorite shops... Country Craft Cupboard. I purchased some wool to make something special for Valentines Day, and they gave me a FREE pattern. I'll post it when I get it completed. For now, I want to show you some of the snowmen ornaments I've made for our tree.

I did a bunch of these
cute little guys with green, dark red and red with black flecks backgrounds. CCC does a lot of their own hand-dying and I absolutely adore their wools. It's usually hard for the Penmaker to pull me out of the back room where all the bolts of wool and floss are. To make matters worse, they sell smaller pieces and little squares of these gorgeous goodies which make it even more tempting to spend all the money in your purse. You can even fill a plastic bag full of wool scraps and pay by the pound... which I've done many times! Perfect snippets to have on hand.

Oh... and the lower
level is filled with rubber stamps, primitive type frames and needlework books. Ah... a crafters dream!
Now, back to work!

If Music Be The Food Of Love

When I saw that one
of the challenges at Bird is the Word was to use the word "MUSIC", the verse from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night came to mind. So I made this...

I adhered a piece
of Imaginisce DP from their fall collection of last year to my page with gel medium... then some torn scraps of music sheet tissue paper. I rubbed on a little Yellow Ochre acrylic paint with my finger and covered it all with Clear Rock Candy crackle paint.  A random layer of molding paste using the Mini Tile Texture stencil from Crafter's Workshop went on next. When it was dry, I applied a bit of Red Ochre acrylic here and there.

I cut a heart with
my Spellbinder's die and stamped it using my Love Set from Rubber Stamp Tapestry and Jet Black Archival ink. I stamped the center of the O with a rose peg stamp, then the leaves. I went over all with a crackled effect stamp, then scrunched up the heart in my hand for some wrinkles... applied it to the page with gel medium and rubbed on some of the Red Ochre and some more of that crackled stamping. The shadowing is done with a black soft charcoal pencil. I rubbed some Jet Black Archival ink on the horn charm and added it using Glossy Accents.

I printed the verse
on my Mac, added Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge Distress Ink, applied the words to my page with gel medium and finally did more shadowing with the black soft charcoal.

More of the Jet Black
ink went around the edges of the page... then I called it quits! A very enjoyable project.
