My Granddaughter's Birthday Gift

I bought the wood box at Keim Lumber in Charm, Ohio about three years ago. It was in a bin of miss-cuts and scraps, but there wasn't a thing wrong with it... even had the perfect size cut for the music box movement. I paid the $2.50 and stashed it away for future use.

I started with a coat of white acrylic paint all over, and finished with pink. Lined the inside with a piece of felt and added cord around the edges, covered the top and sides with close-out paper from Michaels. Used Tim Holtz Caged Bird Die and grundgeboard.

Painted the cage with Ranger's Snow Cap Dabber and inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Used the Vintage Photo and Faded Jeans on the bird then spritzed with Perfect Pearls Blue Smoke mixed with water in a Mini Mister. Inked a mini key charm with silver Alcohol Ink and added to the cage along with some of my rhinestones. (Didn't use that Heart... a girl can change her mind, can't she?) Put on some ribbon and nylon trim from my ever growing stash.

Glued on some Recollections roses, a bow of nylon ribbon and Divine Twine and my little sweetheart's name. (I am so blessed to have three granddaughters and two grandsons.)

I put a mirror on the inside of the lid (what a girl needs). Bought the music box movement from a shop on eBay that plays Edelweiss. Let me know what you think?
