Our Fine Son... Captain America

Today is our
youngest son's birthday. Being he and his brother are quite knowledgeable of the comic book industry, I made him this card...

It has a Recollections
kraft cardstock base and the designer papers are from Graphic 45's Place in Time.

The chipboard frame
is from my stash and was sprayed with Denim Color Wash that I watered down slightly. I laid it on a piece of packaging that I use for spraying, and some of the mica from another spray soaked up into the frame... love the effect! The paper edges are inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Inside:
The Penmaker added his own touch to the sentiments.

These images were
drawn by artist, Vince Dorse, that our older son commissioned to draw for his blog here. If you know anyone interested in comics, please pass this info along to them. It's really quite good.
Have a wonderful Tuesday, friends!

Prima Printery Card With A Twist

Ahh... so what's the twist?
Just a little addition of some Graphic 45 fussy cut flowers from the Steampunk Debutante collection...

This started with a
base of Recollections kraft cardstock with a layer of black textured from Core'dinations on top. Next, a bit of the Fantasy Floral backside along with some Printery Page Four.

I fussy cut several
roses from the Fantasy Floral sheet and layered them along with a Printery bird cage chipboard sticker and a piece of a French Lace paper doily. Added in a yellow blossom from I Am Roses.

I cut two butterflies
from G 45's Olde Curiosity Shoppe Butterfly Specifics, shaping their wings by bending them over a paint brush handle. I inked all the papers with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Another Printery
chipboard piece went at the top with another bit of the doily and one of the yellow blossoms. I added on a TPC Studio rhinestone to the die cut and called it quits.
I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

Just a quick post
here today to show you some happy mail I received this week from a challenge win (here) at Little Scrap Pieces.

Sherrie sponsored
the challenge and sent me the prize... which one of the items (Frayed Burlap Distress Ink) I had just put on my Wish List at Joann's. I'm so thrilled. Thank you Sherri and the Little Scrap Pieces team.

Trip Preparations And A Masculine Card

Hello friends!
Sorry, to have been dragging my feet this week as far as blogging goes. I've been creating as usual, just not getting any visiting done nor photos taken. The Penmaker and I leave for a trip to Virginia in a couple days and I have been busy getting things ready. As in the past three years, our friends have given us their condo in the Massanutten Mountains, which means extra packing... have to take scraping stuff, hiking gear and some food preparation items. Am really anxious to get going.

One of our views.

I started this post this
morning, and am just getting back to finish it... tisk, tisk! Terrible!!!
I did, however,
make another card and get four projects and a pen photographed. Here is a masculine card I did yesterday using Prima products...

This is a little bit
different, wouldn't you say? I had lots of fun playing around with the gears and other metal pieces. The papers are Prima's Printery and a scrap of KaiserCraft's 75 Cents.

This chipboard piece
is from the Romance Novel collection. The timepiece, wing and gear collage piece are Prima. The button is by My Mind's Eye. The gears on the car and the one beside the collage are Idea-ology. The tiny key and bottle cap are from my stash. The nut is from The Penmaker's jar full of nails, nuts and bolts, screws and miscellaneous metal treasures.

Now... (equal time)...

the gorgeous new
pen my sweetheart just made.

I won't be around
much for the next week and a half, but I'll have some new cards and an album scheduled. Please come back and have a look. I promise to visit you as soon as I get back... the Penmaker is taking his laptop, but I'm just no good using it. Have to have my Mac.

Creative Jump Start #25

Yikes... the weather has
just begun to get better and I'm already behind in my chores. With spring comes a whole bunch of added activities and work. Clean up the lawn and garden, spring house cleaning, get the grill ready for the bar-b-ques, and go out walking to take off these extra winter pounds (ugh!) Are you busy with spring projects, or are you into fall?
In trying to get acclimated to
my spring schedule, I'm not getting as much crafting completed. I did a page in my partly finished Creative Jump Start journal...

This started out as
semi-copy of what Donna Downey was doing here on her Inspiration Wednesday video. I say semi-copy because I didn't have the ceramic stucco nor the fluorescent paint that she was using. I did get the inspiration though! Although I stopped way short of what she ended up creating, I liked the look and thought that was as far as I was going to take it.

I really love all
this texture from the pattern I crinkled up and laid down with gel medium, and the stenciled molding paste. I added just a smidgen of stamping with my new Prima clear stamp (both stencil and stamp from Anna Dabrowska's line).

This is page 25 from
the Creative Jump Start lessons... I'm just jumping around (no pun intended) with no particular order in mind with the last of these pages. Whatever I feel like doing next is how I'll go with the end of this journal.

Butterfly Garden Paper Bag Mini Album

Do you remember that
luscious Pink Paislee Butterfly collection? I've been hoarding my last few sheets, but I thought it would be perfect for one of Stephanie Miller's paper bag albums. (Check it out here).

All the flower
embellishments go on the front cover... these beauties are from I Am Roses.

A mat for a photo.

More space for
photos plus three journaling tags held together with a My Mind's Eye butterfly brad.

Two journaling tags
tucked into separate pockets.

So much usable space.

The back cover
with room for photos.

The inside back
cover with more photo space and a journaling tag.
Steff's little albums
are ideal to give as gifts... they go together quickly and they take up very little room... perfect to carry in your purse.
Have a wonderful weekend friends!

Two Simple Layouts

Hi friends!
I've been working on a paper bag mini album this afternoon, and just finished up the last of the flowers on the cover. I'll show you it tomorrow... for right now, I have two very simple layouts I did in my Christmas mini album.

I am very anxious
to finish this album. I'm finding it difficult to think about Christmas trees and gifts when it's in the eighties in our house. (Can't bring myself to turn on the AC yet. After all, this is the first really warm day we've had.)

I made pockets
across the bottom using some border strips, inserting a few journaling tags and tickets.

Like I said... very simple.
The papers I used are from the KaiserCraft Just Believe 6.5" paper pad. The stickers are by K and Company. I made the borders with Martha Stewart's Doily Lace punch.

Bon Voyage

the girls have dedicated this week to Linda Robinson, their fellow team mate and everyone's dear friend. Her and her husband are packing up and starting on an adventure. How I wish the best of everything for them.
The challenge is Bon Voyage.

I used some old
Pink Paislee papers from my stash for this one... I've just got to clear out some of the old to make room for the new. These die cuts are by Farm House... the Market Square Adhesive Chipboard collection. The Chitchat Stickers are by Idea-ology. I used both Black Soot and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink on the edges. These beautiful flowers are all from I Am Roses.

Be sure to stop by
Linda's blog and wish her the best. Then get your project linked up. There's a fabulous fifty dollar gift card for the winner!

Pop Up Step Card

Will I ever learn.
After watching Anne's video here, I decided to try making one of her pop up step cards. What possesses me to try these things? Anne obviously has skills way beyond mine, as she seems to pump out one fabulous creation after another with, what seems like, little effort. I'll tell you straight up... this was the most difficult card I've ever put together! Now that it's finished though... I just have to try another. After all... practice makes perfect, right? So the next one just has to be easier.

Anne's card was so
beautiful, I used the same papers... Graphic 45's Place In Time. Isn't it funny how that two woman, making the same style card with the same papers can come up with two totally different looking creations.

I used  black textured
cardstock for my base... just love the black edges showing around the patterned paper.

To my inside,
I added pearl trim and lace from Hobby Lobby.

 I left a space
for a message here in the center... haha, not to sure how I'll get my hand in there to write though.

Matchbook Box With Mini Album

I've been on a mini
album kick lately... just can't seem to want to make anything else. After watching this video by Arlene, I decided to try making one to fit into the Graphic 45 Matchbook Box that I had bought awhile back. She used the French Country collection by G45, and since it's one of my new favorites, I made mine with the same.

Other than the Graphic 45
items, I used I AM Roses flowers, two buttons from my stash, two My Mind's Eye brads, crinkled seam binding, a Momenta metal key, an Idea-ology metal Label Pull. I also used a Spellbinder's Floral Motifs die.

Here are the individual
pages of the mini album. I cut them from medium weight black chipboard. I punched the holes with my Crop-A-Dile and added two We Are Memory Keepers wide eyelets on the cover, leaving the others plain for less bulk.

Not being sure what
I'm going to do with this project, I just inserted copy paper rectangles where the photos will go.

I left the label pull
empty as well, with the thought of adding a title or someone's name when the time comes to either use it in my home or give it away.

I started out by
giving the box a few coats of Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist... brushing it on instead of spraying. I then heat set it, and at this point... my heat tool shot out sparks and died. Hummm... now what? I use this gun more than any other tool.

The only solution...
quick place an order with BlueMoon Scrapbooking for another. Might as well add on a few other things to make the over fifty dollars free shipping... right? (Can you believe, it came in four days!)

I put down the
papers with Tombow Multi glue, inking the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink first, then added my embellishments.

Here it all is...
a VERY Happy Place!
I think I need to make some cards next, but after those, there are three other albums I want to try.

Happy Anniversary Forever

Our daughter Sarah
and her husband celebrated their anniversary this past week, and I did a special card for them.

This is that beautiful
KraiserCraft 75 Cents collection again. I'm loving the 6.5 pad so much, I've now ordered the 12x12's.

I did some double
stamping on one of the die-cut pieces from the Collectables package and popped it up on top of another of the die-cuts. This package is just loaded with goodies, and I want to use them all. The butterflies and scalloped border are also from that group.

The white flowers and
leaves are from I Am Roses. The gold ones are from my stash... I believe originally from an Etsy shop. The heart locket is a Prima Vintage Trinket. The French Lace doily is from my stash.

The metal corner piece
is by Momenta. I also used Jet Black Archival and Vintage Photo Distress inks.

Men With Their Toys

I'm still working
on this Christmas mini album, and I just may finish it before spring is over. There are only a few more photos to add, which is a good thing as this book is getting awfully chunky.
These two pages are
about some of our men folk and their toys... some they received as gifts and others they just brought along with them. Any way, it's fun to watch the serious looks on their faces.

Two page spread.

I tucked a couple
journaling tags under the photos here. I'm planning on going back when this is all done and filling in the journal spots. I hope I'll still be able to remember everything.

The Penmaker with a
new squirrel-resistant bird feeder. Besides turning pens, he likes taking care of our feathered friends in the back yard. The other day he came running down the hallway yelling for me to come quickly. We had six wild turkey out there. I tried to get a picture, but they headed for the woods and blended right  into the trees. So fantastic!

More journaling space
on the back of this tag which also contains my bit of heavy metal... a wide eyelet from Memory Keepers. I'm not much of a talker... hope I can find enough to write about to fill all the journaling tags I've put in this album.
