Remembering the Past

I'm linking up my art journal page today at:

My page is quite simple. I wanted to try out some of the Distress Paints I bought...used Cracked Pistachio and Vintage Photo blending with a baby wipe. I like the depth they created on the tissue paper. Added some stamping. Also an image I stamped on a manila tag and cut out. Did just a bit a coloring with my Faber-Castell Aquarelle pencils and shading with a Big Brush pen.

A Mother's Day Pocket Card w/Tag and Pen

The Penmaker and I have joined together two of our creations for Mother's Day. His pen is a chrome Streamline ball point in coral and yellow designer acrylic. My pocket card is made with Prima's Lyric collection. The flowers are from Prima and Petaloo. I used two Sizzix dies... Vintage Doily and Holiday Greens Thinlits.

Inspiration Wednesday 2015 Week Five

My take on week five of Inspiration Wednesday is all about reality. Are these pages really stone and granite, or are they soft and pliable? I can't give away any techniques, but I can say that some things are not as they seem.

Curiosity Tag Using Tim's March 12 Tags of 2015 Background

It's a little hard to see, but Tim's background technique from his March 12 Tags of 2015 was my starting point for this tag. I used two of the new Distress colors - Cracked Pistachio and Abandoned Coral along with Iced Spruce and Vintage Photo Distress Paints. These were the first four colors to arrive after I ordered several bottles... (Ros's prompting, LOL)... so I went with them.

Again, I chose paper from the Kaisercraft Curiosity collection, layering several patterns and scraps with a piece cut with Alterations Mixed Media Thinlits die set. The beautiful antique metal leaf and corner piece are from The Funkie Junkie Boutique. The flowers and green leaves are all from I Am Roses and the foliage was cut from Alterations Spring Greenery Decorative Strip die. The edges are sponged with Black Soot DI.

One Little Word 2015

My One Little Word for 2015 is TRUST. Being backed up with all my projects this year, I finally remodeled my wall hanging and added my new word. I haven't done Ali's classes or notebook, but just try to incorporate my word into my life. I chose a word from Bible scripture that I believe is something I need... some area that needs improved or strengthened.

This wall hanging has gone through some major changes this year. I started with pulling all of 2014's papers and embellishments off. On my Kaisercraft Curiosity paper, I laid down some Prima Clear Gesso by Finnabair just for strength. I applied her Texture Paste in Platinum using a Crafter's Workshop Tile Texture stencil. While that was drying, I cut an Alterations Ornate Frame from light chipboard and gave it a thick coat of the Platinum TP. When everything was dry, I assembled layers of papers, two Alterations Distressed Doily, Prima and I Am Roses flowers, cheesecloth, Spanish moss, May Arts Burlap String loops and Alterations Spring Greenery leaves. The gorgeous butterfly was a gift from Linda at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Inspiration Wednesday 2015 Week Four

Of all the art journal pages I have done, I have to say that this was the most fun in both making it and satisfaction of the way it turned out. I think Donna was in high gear on this one. I absolutely love what I've learned from week four's class. You can still join us!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Curiosity Bright and Bold Pocket Card w/Tag

I'm calling this bright and bold, but it really isn't quite this vivid. I couldn't get the true colors of this card to come through, so if you can imagine this toned down just a little... more  teal than green like in the third shot. The Penmaker has been experimenting with his new camera and lighting, but hasn't gotten it perfected yet. Thankfully he's taken over the photography.

As you can see, I'm still working from that pile of Kaisercraft papers on my desk. I can hardly believe I haven't exhausted the supply, and still keep coming up with ideas for what is left.

The dies I used are Prima Pineapple Doily, Spellbinders Large Circles, Sizzix Vintage Doily. From Sizzix Alterations Mixed Media and Holiday Greens Thinlits, also Spring Greenery Decorative Strip. The flowers are by Petaloo and I Am Roses, gems from Prima, and the brad is by My Mind's Eye. Distress Ink is Black Soot.

Have a beautiful day... thanks for stopping by!

Inspiration Wednesday 2015 Week Three

I'm learning to make do with supplies I have on hand for Donna's Inspiration Wednesday classes. In this project for week three, we needed drywall tape, which I didn't have. But do you know what will work almost as good? Plain old copy paper cut with TH Thinlits Mixed Media die.

See the small holes portion... just cut several in a strip and glue them down with gel medium.
