Remembering The Adventure

In May, the Penmaker
and I ventured to Virginia to attend the Mid-Atlantic Penturners Gathering in Richmond. It turned out to be quite the event, a real adventure for us...

and inspired me to create this layout for my husband...

You probably recognize
the Prima Engraver collection here, but if you zoom in, you'll see a sheet from the Printery as well, used as my base. Under it is a 12x12 piece of black chipboard for stability. I distressed all the edges and sponged on Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

After putting on the
base papers, I  laid down molding paste... tinted with raw umber acrylic paint... using the Prima Sunrise Sunset checkerboard mask. I pulled out Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist and sprayed on a layer with the Crafters Workshop Numerals stencil.

I fussy cut several
elements from the collection. Here I topped the clock with an Idea-ology gear, a Prima Junkyard Finding and wound around some May Arts natural burlap string. A Prima wood border piece is tucked underneath.

More fussy cut pieces,
an arrow sticker from the collection sheet, and Idea-ology's hinge clip, chain and a muse token.

Idea-ology pen nibs.

An Engraver brad
as a flower center, Idea-ology Chit Chat sticker words and Martha Stewart punched oak leaves. I dry brushed some of the flowers (Engraver) and papers with gesso for a shabbier look.

I made the tab using
my We R Memory Keepers Cloud/Scallop Corner Chomper. The alphas are Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type.

In this grouping of
flowers, is one of the Engraver wood buttons, tied with burlap string and sitting inside one of our son's bottle caps from his soda he saves for me. There is also an Idea-ology memo pin and a Prima Say It In Crystals black gem used as a flower center.

Printery Paper Bag Mini Album For A Sweet Little Lady

This is Brianna.
She's my daughter-in-law's niece, and she was here at our house on Sunday afternoon, along with her family. They are missionaries to South Africa and are back here for a few months. I had the pleasure of showing her and her sister my studio and all the projects I had recently made. Happily, I was able to give her a little memento of her visit. I think she was pleased.

This is the album
made from just two little kraft paper bags from Michaels and Prima's Printery 12x12 papers and the 8x8 stack.

There are a ton of
photos, so I'll just list some of the product and you can scan on through.

A Manly Romance Novel

... or a masculine card
made with Prima's Romance Novel collection. My stash of cards for men has once more dwindled down to nearly zero, so it's time to replenish. Although I normally wouldn't have thought this collection right for a man, I think it came out just fine. We know a lot of guys who like gardening and yard work, so I don't think the rose stamp is out of place. Besides, it adds just a splash of color and these papers are all so beautifully vintage looking.

My card has a base
of Recollections kraft cardstock... which seems to have been out of stock for some time now at our Michaels... along with black textured cardstock from Core'dinations.

The sentiment is from
Verve's Joy for the Journey stamp set. I love this set, and I really need one similar in an anniversary theme. Any ideas?

Transparency Mini Album

A short while back,
my blog friend, Ros... Mikey's Mom... and I did a swap of supplies and she sent me some transparency sheets that I had been wanting to make into a mini album. I've been captivated of late by the creativity of Stephanie Miller. As nearly everyone knows, she is in the forefront when it comes to mini albums. After watching her Ustream for Prima where she created a fabulous mini album with transparencies, I just had to try making one. Believe me... it wasn't as easy for me as it was for her.

I had a hard time
lining up my paper to the transparency, and in the end, I trimmed some of the edges with my Tonic scissors. Unfortunately, I'm one of whose people that are bothered by slight imperfections in their projects and I "try" to fix them all. (Probably why it takes me so long to make a project.)

The papers are all
from the Glitz Vintage Blue 6x6 pad and a few scraps of the 12x12 sheets plus the Vintage Blue Whatnots die-cuts I got from Audrey's Etsy shop last year. I thought it was time to use up this collection and make way for a new one. I'll try to give a brief description of what I used and how, but I may need to break this up into two posts... we'll see how this goes!
