Some Fall Inspiration

Some people are born to inspire. Audrey Pettit is one of those with that ability. Our styles are quite different, but she can create a fabulous card, and it screams "okay, Linda, make one like me!" Numerous times, she was been my starting point, my muse, my inspirer. My fall wall hanging is my take on this one Audrey created for Sizzix (my favorite die company ever).

We were in Tennessee, when I read her post and saw her project. My mind wandered back to those Alteration's pumpkin and banner dies I saw at Your Scrapbook Superstore that morning.

Thankfully, when I got there the next day they had one Pumpkin Jack left, and I eagerly grabbed it up along with the Tattered Banners. Now I couldn't wait to get back to Ohio and create my own.

I started with a piece of Canvas Corp Flute (fancy for cardboard) and added a mat of BoBunny DoubleDot Gingerbread Vintage paper. At this point I went ahead and added two wide eyelets in the top corners to tie in my seam binding ribbon and bows. The next mat layer of Tim Coffey's K & Company fall paper is popped up with foam 3-D adhesive.

I cut my Pumpkin Jack from the orange and green papers in the Core'dinations Kraft-Core Nostalgic collection. I embossed it with my Cuttlebug Birds and Swirls folder, then sponged on Archival Coffee ink on the raised areas.

It looked a little plain not having eyes, nose and mouth like Audrey's, so I cut out a design using Alterations Mini Acorn die. Under it a put a scrap of that same DoubleDot, first heat setting it with two coats of Utee (ultra thick embossing enamel.) Then on went the banner... it's DoubleDot Chiffon Journal, stamped and sponged with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

I added two I Am Roses leaves sponged with Gathered Twigs D I and a Petaloo flower to the base of the pumpkin stem.

Then I glued on a bit of Spanish moss at the bottom, more Petaloo flowers, and two metal leaves that I shaped with my needle nosed pliers.

I think that covers it all.

Thank you, Audrey, for inspiring me. I loved your little smiling guys so much, I just had to have my own... and now I have two new dies to play with, too!

Thanks for stopping by... I so appreciate it!

Fall Black Bird Pocket Card and A New Shop Opening

I don't know if I should admit this, but my card started out as another of my remodels... that I totally messed up. The only thing left of the original is that blue dot doily die cut and the orange leafy flourish (Die-namics.) It would have been faster to just forget the remake, and start fresh, which I eventually did after wasting a couple of hours fooling around with a project that just wasn't meant to be. Still, in the end, I'm pleased with the results.

I have lots of layers here using my pack of Tim Holtz ephemera.

I created this card last week, and had to laugh when I visited my friend, Audrey's blog and saw that she too had used some of the same ephemera pieces. And speaking of Audrey, she has a new shop opening tomorrow, that I'm assuming will be filled with her lovely handmade goodies. Can't wait to see what she has for us! See you over there... maybe we can shop together.

The title of my card is black bird, but this is actually a purple martin... they're black, though, aren't they?

I used my Die-namics Layered Labels set for this piece with the banners.

Some vintage Recollections glittered skeleton leaves, cheesecloth, natural burlap string, orange I Am Roses rosebuds and a black nylon Prima flower (it originally had a grey pearl center that I changed up with the orange rhinestone.)

Hope you all have a great week... a new time to create!

Thanks for stopping by!

You Have My Whole Heart Valentine Card

Just like my friend, Audrey
(here at her blog), I have one more Valentine card to show you. I didn't want to post this one before Valentine's Day because my sweetheart would have seen it and spoiled the surprise.

I've been saving this
My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart layered sticker just for this occasion. I mixed it with their Heirloom collection and some odds and ends from my scrap box.

The chipboard button
is also from the FYH collection. The rose is I Am Roses and the foliage was cut from Sizzix Branch w/leaves die.

July 4th Holiday

Happy Independence Day
to all my American friends. I'm going to enjoy the holiday with some crafting... hopefully... and maybe a cookout on the patio. Those are my plans... we'll see what happens though.

This is my version of
Audrey's "Woodsy Americana" flag (check it out here). I can tell you, painting tiny stars on a twig wasn't as easy for me as it looked and I obviously thought I needed more room for the jute between them. My son said it's rustic so it's okay... I'm always thankful for the support of my family!
Have a great day!

Thanks for stopping by!

Transparency Mini Album

A short while back,
my blog friend, Ros... Mikey's Mom... and I did a swap of supplies and she sent me some transparency sheets that I had been wanting to make into a mini album. I've been captivated of late by the creativity of Stephanie Miller. As nearly everyone knows, she is in the forefront when it comes to mini albums. After watching her Ustream for Prima where she created a fabulous mini album with transparencies, I just had to try making one. Believe me... it wasn't as easy for me as it was for her.

 cover

I had a hard time
lining up my paper to the transparency, and in the end, I trimmed some of the edges with my Tonic scissors. Unfortunately, I'm one of whose people that are bothered by slight imperfections in their projects and I "try" to fix them all. (Probably why it takes me so long to make a project.)

The papers are all
from the Glitz Vintage Blue 6x6 pad and a few scraps of the 12x12 sheets plus the Vintage Blue Whatnots die-cuts I got from Audrey's Etsy shop last year. I thought it was time to use up this collection and make way for a new one. I'll try to give a brief description of what I used and how, but I may need to break this up into two posts... we'll see how this goes!
