Seriously now! When you go to create a birthday card for a specific person, how do you start? Do you come up with a design that strictly says Happy Birthday or do you plan a card that will relate to the person you're giving it to? Ummm... to be honest, I generally try to make something that when it's opened, the person getting it will think... hey this is me!!! Of course, that idea doesn't always prove out... but I like to give it a shot anyway.
This is a card I made for our youngest son. LOL! Youngest... we're talking 33 years old here. He, like most of our family, is a book collector. When he was little, he loved the cross section books by Stephen Biesty. This Tim Holtz paper from his Idea-ology 12x12 Dapper Paper Stack reminded me of those books with the little men, so I thought this would be a great start for his card.
The base is kraft paper cut to 5 1/2 square. The papers are all from Dapper with some dark red cardstock mixed in the layers. I found the vintage boxing gloves in my stash... in a pack of Jolee's Nostalgiques Sports stickers. The bow is ivory May Arts burlap string.
The antique copper corner is by Momenta, and "happy" was cut with Alterations Thinlits Celebration Words.
He took some time looking at it, so hopefully I did alright.

This is just awesome, Linda! I truly love that you design a card with so much thought to personalizing the design. I'm curious about those books you mention.....I'm not familiar with them. Love that paper you used! So perfect for a guy card!
