CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #29

The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays
for the next two weeks is to use this delightful sketch from Karen Baker.

Here is my take...

My card base is Bazzill's Aspen
cardstock and the mat base is from the Ooh La La 6 x 6 Designer Paper Pad from My Mind's Eye. I sponged the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Now about my image...
I started with a scrap of light green cardstock and streaked on Evergreen Bough and Iced Spruce Distress Inks from Tim Holtz's Christmas Limited Edition Collection. I next de-bossed it using Cuttlebug's Textile Texture, then brushed on Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. Then taking a scrap of chipboard, I scraped away the top layer of the crackle paint trying the leave only what was in the de-bossed areas. See tutorial here. What I discovered, however, is that Cuttlebug's Folders apparently do not emboss/de-boss as deeply as Tim's Sizzix Texture Fades (another group of items for my want list). I didn't get that nice deep crackle that Tammy shows on her project, but I was quite happy with the results I did get. When it was dry, I stamped on the music score from Skipping Stones Design's Timeless Textures set with Faded Jeans Distress Ink. When it was completely dry I sponged the edges with Gathered Twigs DI then ran my paper distresser over the inked edges, really digging into the paper to get a nice, rough finish.

I cut a small tag from a scrap
of green cardstock and added a wide eyelet and inked the edges with Gathered Twigs. Looped on a piece of green twine. I cut the smaller ticket from the TH Alteration's Mini Tickets Set with a piece of the PD, inked it and topped it with a tree cut from the backside (silver) of a scrap of copper sheeting using TH Mini Pine Tree and Holly Set. I stamped on my sentiment with Black Archival Ink and added a line of blue and green rhinestones.
I'm thinking... this was worth
the effort and I'm hoping to try it again with one of Tim's Texture Fades.

Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs!
Linda

Ooooh, I love that soft greenish blue. I just want to wrap myself in it! All that distressing looks so good. Reminds me of an Irish wool throw.
