Wishes Come True Anniversary Card and Some Beautiful Pens

I'm truly sorry for the delay in getting to this anniversary card. We've had birthday parties, cookouts, movie premiers, and lots of yard work. Today seems like it may be normal, so I'm taking this opportunity to do a post.
This card was created for our son and daughter-in-law's anniversary from two collections... Kaisercraft's Fairy Dust and Bo Bunny's Enchanted Garden. These two go so well together, I always combine them. I did a lot of fussy cutting... Fairy Dust being perfect for it!

The printed chipboard piece is from an older Prima collection as is this pebble, bauble thing (can't remember what they are called). I attached it with Glossy Accents.

These gorgeous flowers are from I Am Roses... from my newer stash. This is my favorite company for flowers, but you probably know that. The purple half pearls are by Hero Arts.

The wire key paper clip is by Prima from the Engraver collection. I seem to have an abundance of these things????

How about a look at some pens... I haven't shown any lately and The Penmaker has made some real beauties over the last month.
These first two are Royal Jewel in chrome with designer acrylic...

and this one is 24kt gold with designer acrylic.

The next three are antique pewter Dragon writing instruments with designer acrylic.

This one is quite unique... a chrome and gunmetal Curvation with clear cast feathers.

My Rejected Home Sweet Home Anniversary Card

I created this cute Home Sweet Home card for an anniversary, but realized it just wasn't quite right. Who wants "cute" for their anniversary? I'll show you my second more romantic attempt next week after the big day. In fact, you can catch a sneak peek of it in my new banner above.

I used a combination of Graphic 45's Ladies Diary, Echo Park's The Story of Our Family, and Carta Bella's Home Sweet Home. Pretty wild mix, aye? Especially with all the black cardstock. It just seemed to fit together, though, with the 5.5x5.5 black base.
The teal textured flower is by Petaloo. The tiny red and white blooms and small aqua flower are from I Am Roses. The leaves are from my stash... vintage.

I added three wood pieces (a key, clothes clip, butterfly) and a section of wild vine that Adelaide brought me from our woods out back. I need her to visit again so she can go find me some more. This was my last.

I layered on several die-cuts as well.
You've heard of "the straw that broke the camel's back"? Well, this is the card that broke the Sizzix Vagabond. I've now officially broke two of those machines. I hear that now the new ones have the overload problem remedied. I may even buy one of those someday, and give it a go. In the meantime, I've gone back to my old faithful, hand crank Circuit Cuttlebug. Can't let broken equipment stop me from creating, right?

Sarah's 2017 Birthday Card

Our daughter-in-law, Sarah, had her birthday this past weekend. We celebrated with a party, but even more exciting... a day in Amish country shopping and eating.

The Penmaker and Adelaide stop for some fun and games while in our favorite primitive store in Berlin.

A brief rest afterward.

Lunch in another of our favorite shops.

Our birthday girl and little Adelaide - who's not so little anymore!

I created her card with Graphic 45's Ladies Diary, vintage lace, I Am Roses flowers, and a vintage button. A pretty simple card, but made with a whole lot of love!

William's Chicken Birthday Card

Today we celebrated our grandson William's eighth birthday. A very festive occasion with a chicken theme. Our daughter always goes all out for her brood of four, and since they started raising chickens I suppose the poultry theme was top on Will's list.

I created his card with Graphic 45's French Country... the perfect collection for the simple, clean look I wanted. Country with a touch of class... not just your everyday chicken, but chickens with style!
Happy Birthday William!

Happy Card for Our Son's Birthday

Seriously now! When you go to create a birthday card for a specific person, how do you start?  Do you come up with a design that strictly says Happy Birthday or do you plan a card that will relate to the person you're giving it to? Ummm... to be honest, I generally try to make something that when it's opened, the person getting it will think... hey this is me!!! Of course, that idea doesn't always prove out... but I like to give it a shot anyway.

This is a card I made for our youngest son. LOL! Youngest... we're talking 33 years old here. He, like most of our family, is a book collector. When he was little, he loved the cross section books by Stephen Biesty. This Tim Holtz paper from his Idea-ology 12x12 Dapper Paper Stack reminded me of those books with the little men, so I thought this would be a great start for his card.

The base is kraft paper cut to 5 1/2 square. The papers are all from Dapper with some dark red cardstock mixed in the layers. I found the vintage boxing gloves in my stash... in a pack of Jolee's Nostalgiques Sports stickers. The bow is ivory May Arts burlap string.

The antique copper corner is by Momenta, and "happy" was cut with Alterations Thinlits Celebration Words.
He took some time looking at it, so hopefully I did alright.

Let's Celebrate Birthday Card

Happy Monday dear friends!
The first day of May... and 100% chance of rain! That's Ohio for you, but ahhh, I love it here!

I've made a neat little birthday card for our son's father-in-law that I want to show you. A pretty simple card, which most of my masculine cards are... from Tim Holtz products, a Cord'inations white card base from Pat Catans, and a Momenta antique pewter metal flourish.

All the TH products are by Idea-ology. The papers are from the 12x12 Dapper Paper Stash. The border strip is from their Industrious Stickers, Frames and Trims. The white and silver Let's Celebrate is from the Metallic Quotations Stickers. Everything is sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

My fussy cut dapper gent is popped up with 3-D foam adhesive. I added the fancy metal flourish for a touch of class... because Tom is!
