Pixie Dust Paperie June Challenge

The challenge for June
at Pixie Dust Paperie is to create a card, tag, layout, etc inspired by this picture. Here is my DT project...

I made this tag using
Webster's Pages Yacht Club and Creative Imaginations Beach Cottage papers with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

The flowers are from
I Am Roses, except for the two blue roses which are from an Etsy shop.

The wrinkled seam binding
came from Prairie Bird Boutique. The vintage button is from my stash. The mini paper clip is by Ideaology.

I'm not much of a beach
person... I much prefer the mountains... but I love the colors of these papers and the shabby chic sort of look to them. They remind me of when we would spend our January/Februarys in Sarasota, Florida. Each year we were blessed in that I was invited come to a seminar there to sell my books. Our hotel was right on the water and my boys and I would sit on the beach and do our school lessons. Such bliss! Ahhh, how I would love to revisit that place and stroll along the sand with the waves lapping at my toes. Someday, maybe!
Please join us this month
for some summer fun... you could win a $15.00 gift certificate for the Pixie Dust Paperie shop.

Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs!

Happy Mother's Day

The May challenge at
Pixie Dust Paperie is a Mother's Day themed one.

Kirsty has given us a
beautiful inspirational photo this month. Now, what sort of loveliness can you create for Mother's Day.

For my Design Team project,
I went to my stash for some old papers from Creative Imaginations with a vintagey, shabby chic look and teamed them with white, canvas textured cardstock to create this Mother's Day card. The edges were sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

I added a layer of die-cuts...
Spellbinders Lacey Circles and  Classic Scalloped Circles... a paper doily, Queen & Co pearls, and I Am Roses tiny blossoms that were misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang Scintillating Silver Glitz Spritz.

I made this flower using
white tulle, Crinoline from Joanns, and my Spellbinders Blossom die. It was misted with SS Glitz Spritz and glittered with Twinklets Diamond Dust. The center is a vintage button topped with a pearl and more glitter. The leaves are from I Am Roses and the pink acrylic sprays are from my stash.

The corner resin piece
is a Prima Shabby Chic Treasure, also misted with SS Glitz Spritz.

The lace and pearl trim
are from my stash and the sentiment was stamped with an old set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

Fly Away With Me

is "Fly Away With Me". Just create a project related to a city such as New York City, Paris or London... someplace special you've been or are dreaming of going.

The winner this month
will receive a $15 gift certificate to shop at Pixie Dust Paperie.

This is my DT project...

My dream is to go
to Paris... the real place, not this city in Epcot. But for now... I'm content and can enjoy what is closer at hand. These photos are from our Florida vacation this winter.
I started my layout by
using the Glitz Happy Travels "Bicycle" and "Floral" DP that came in the Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary kit for March from Pixie.

Glitz French Kiss 6"x6" paper
pad coordinated beautifully with Happy Travels, and Vintage Photo Distress Ink gave them all that aged look. The florals are a Prima script spray that was misted very lightly with Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist, I Am Roses and Recollections flowers sprayed with Cactus Gold Glitz Spritz, and Martha Stewart punched oak leaves. The key is from an Etsy shop.

More CG Glitz Spritz
misted I Am Roses and Recollections flowers, MS oak leaves, lace from my stash (Webster's Pages, I think) and a Maya Road bloom. This top photo is covered with a transparency from the Glitz Vintage Blue Peek-a-Boos that came in the kit. PARIS was cut with Alterations Vintage Market.

The paper doily from
my stash was sponged with Vintage Photo then misted with CG Glitz Spritz. The pearls are Queen & Co. More flowers are nestled beside a BoBunny trinket and a Die-namics butterfly that is topped with a TPC Studio Reel Me In jewel.

Lots of layering
with the Glitz French Kiss papers.

An Ideaology mini paper
clip and a crystal bauble from my stash. It's hard to see, but there is some stained tulle tucked between the two mats. I did some aging on all the papers and photos with my paper distresser.
I think that covers it.
Please join us at the
Pixie "Fly Away With Me" Challenge... I'd love to see what you create!

Thanks for the visit!
Hugs!

Pixie March Challenge Reminder

Be sure to check out
all the fabulous projects our Pixie Dust Paperie Challenge Design Team have made. The links to their blogs are on my side bar. If you missed my post yesterday, I invite you to scroll down and see the card I made from Kirsty's sketch using the new My Mind's Eye Be Happy Collection.

A couple more vacation
photos... I'm still re-living the dream. This is in the new T-Rex Restaruant in Downtown Disney Marketplace. We sat in the Ice Age Room and after a few minutes in there the changes of the colors on the ice started to make some of us headachy. Other than that it was a fantastic experience.

Here is the outside
of the building. Isn't it amazing?

Another evening we
tried a different room. This guy was right above us and when he turned, his mouth opened up over my head. Yikes!!!

Breakfast at Wolfgang Puck.

Wish I would have taken
this before the Penmaker started digging in... these waffles were unbelivable... covered in whipped cream with banana slices and fresh strawberries. Yummmm!
Hope your not getting
bored... have more I'd like to show you later.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Pixie March Challenge

the March Challenge is to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Kirsty!

The winner of this challenge
will receive a $15 gift certificate to shop at Pixie Dust Paperie.

Now,
I'd like to show you my DT project...

For my card base I went
with Bright White Canvas Texture cardstock from Core'dinations. All the other papers are from the new My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart "Be Happy" 6x6 Designer Paper Pad. I used both Iced Spruce and Antique Linen Distress Ink on the edges.

This border was made
with Martha Stewart's Traditional Scallop punch. The brad is from the MME Be Happy Decorative Brad collection. My sentiment was a freebie stamp.

The butterfly is another
MME brad from the same set as above.

The lace is from my
stash and the pearl trim came from my local craft store.

The inside.

Remember that you are
welcome to submit any type of project that is based on Kirsty's sketch and you may enter as many times as you wish.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Pixie Dust Paperie February Challenge

Our challenge at
Pixie Dust Paperie for February is...

Create a project (card, layout, altered project, etc.) based on this inspiration photo.

When Pixie-in-Chief Kirsty
sent me this assignment, I was awe-struck at the beauty of this image... and I immediately knew what I wanted to do... a mixed-media college.

I started with an
8x8 canvas from Darice. I first applied a coat of gesso to the canvas. I then mixed some of my acrylic paints with more gesso until I got what I thought were the right shades of blues and grays... dividing the canvas into 9 equal squares and painting them with these paints. When they were dry the colors were more intense than what I wanted, so I applied a coat of Picket Fence Distress Stain over the squares. I ended up doing this three more times, drying between coats, until I was happy with the results.
The papers I used are
from the My Mind's Eye 6x6 Meadowlark Designer Paper Pad. The castle image I found online and I added the Once Upon a Time sentiment.

This lace applique
is from my stash, the heart and leaf trinket pins are Maya Road, the crown is by Melissa Frances and the leaves are Prima Lovely Fabric Leaves in dark gray.

The rose trim is from
a local craft store, the leaves were cut with Martha Stewart's Rose Leaf punch and sprayed with English Ivy Glimmer Mist. The branch was cut with Tim Holtz Alterations Mini Branch & Leaf Set and sprayed with Goosebumps.

The trees were cut
with TH Alterations Mini Pine Tree & Holly Set. I heat embossed it with Pine Needles Distress Embossing Powder and wrapped the trunk with Natural Burlap String from May Arts. The green glittered leaves are from Recollections as is the black bling.

The key I bought on
clearance from Michael's jewelry department and I added a Tim Holtz Bauble. The mini frames is by  Melissa Frances, the white rose buds from I Am Roses and the metal flourish is a Prima Vintage Trinket.

The clock is also a Vintage
Trinket and I added jewels from TPC Studio. The corner pieces are Shabby Chic Treasures by Prima.

The bird is SCT as well.
The tiny feather was found on our front porch by my granddaughter and I thought a perfect addition. I applied a bit of Black Soot Distress Ink to give him a little color.

 I used Spellbinder's dies:
Large Classic Scalloped Ovals, Large Classic Ovals, Floral Doily Motifs, Classic Hearts, Labels One.
White satin ribbon from my stash, Black Soot Distress Ink.

The winner of the February
Pixie Challenge will receive a $15 gift certificate to the Pixie Dust Paperie Shop! So get your entry in before 2/29/2012.

Thank you for stopping by today!
Hugs!

Pixie Dust Paperie January Challenge

There's a
along with a
** BRAND NEW PIXIE CHALLENGE DESIGN TEAM **
and I'm so thrilled and honored to be a member!

The first challenge for
the year of 2012 is "LOVE NOTES", and I know you'll want to enter this one! Just take a look at our inspirational photo...

The challenge is for a
Valentine's Day project or a project with heart(s). You can create a Valentine's Day card, or a project with the word "Valentine", or a project with heart(s)... the heart can be on your patterned paper, a diecut, a stamp, vintage images, a charm, etc!
Here is my project to
give you an idea of what you can come up with...

Since I have a rather
large family and need lots of Valentine's Day cards and gifts, I thought it would be nice to make some mini pizza boxes that I can fill with candy.

I chose to use my
October 2011 Blue Moon Kit because of all the romantic papers it contains. I picked The Girls' Paperie Kitch "Geranium Stripe" DP because of it's beautiful floral stripe on the front side and red polka dots on the back side.

You need to cut your paper
to 11" x 6" and score it at 1" and 5" on the long side and 1", 5", 6", and 10" across... you can see the directions here.

After you fold, snip
and tape, your mini pizza box looks like this.

I made the band from
the American Crafts Pale Blue cardstock in my kit. The red cardstock, florals and stick pins are all from my stash.
I hope you'll try making
one of these mini pizza boxes... or a card or some other Valentine's Day or Heart project for the Pixie Challenge... please join us! I'm just dying to see what my fellow Design Team Members have created.

Thanks for stopping by today!
Hugs!
