Pixie Dust Paperie January Challenge

The first challenge for 

the year of 2012 is "LOVE NOTES", and I know you'll want to enter this one! Just take a look at our inspirational photo...

The challenge is for a 

Valentine's Day project or a project with heart(s). You can create a Valentine's Day card, or a project with the word "Valentine", or a project with heart(s)... the heart can be on your patterned paper, a diecut, a stamp, vintage images, a charm, etc!

Here is my project to 

give you an idea of what you can come up with...

Since I have a rather

large family and need lots of Valentine's Day cards and gifts, I thought it would be nice to make some mini pizza boxes that I can fill with candy.

I chose to use my

October 2011 Blue Moon Kit because of all the romantic papers it contains. I picked The Girls' Paperie Kitch "Geranium Stripe" DP because of it's beautiful floral stripe on the front side and red polka dots on the back side.

You need to cut your paper

to 11" x 6" and score it at 1" and 5" on the long side and 1", 5", 6", and 10" across... you can see the directions here.

After you fold, snip

and tape, your mini pizza box looks like this.

I made the band from

the American Crafts Pale Blue cardstock in my kit. The red cardstock, florals and stick pins are all from my stash.

City Crafter Challenge #90

Our lovely hostess Cheryl

of the City Crafter Challenge Blog, has given a challenge of "Save The Date"... to use either a day, a month, a year or a combination of all three somewhere on your project. 

Seeing that phrase "Save The 

Date" made me think on my son's wedding last year, but then I thought of a date fast approaching that I haven't done anything about... my sister's birthday!!! Yikes!!! It being so soon after Christmas, I am always pressed for what it get her... and here I haven't even made her card. So I jumped right on that idea... at least I would have the card done and if inspiration doesn't strike in the next day or two, I can always tuck in a great gift card (who doesn't love that?).

Here's my entry...

I had bought the Prima

8x8 paper pad and tiles of the Printery Collection while in that fabulous scrapbooking super store in Tennessee in December. Now was the time to break it out. Cream cardstock is my card base and Vintage Photo my Distress Ink of choice.

Hmmmm... seems I remember

a gorgeous handmade flower in my Tecolote Pixie Dust Paperie Kit. Yep... perfect match as is the crinkled seam binding.

Some Rock Candy Stickles

and mini jewels from the TPC Studio So Delish Collection top off this birthday card except for one more important thing...

The Kraft Journal Challenge #52

It's "Anything Goes"

at The Kraft Journal Challenge, and I'm going with a Valentine...

I went with The Kraft Outlet's

Brown Kraft Cardstock as my card base and the rest of my papers are scraps. I am determined to use some of this pile of leftovers, or get a bigger desk! 

I made the flower from

a piece of the burlap that came in the Tecolote PDP Kit, some vintage lace and a Prima Calcutta Dogwood from the Blue Moon Kit. I replaced the Dogwood center for the vintage heart button.

The doily is also from

Tecolote. The Distress Ink is Festive Berries and the jewels are from TPC Studio Timeless Christmas Collection. The narrow satin ribbon is by Darice and the bow ribbon is from Michaels.

Mojo Monday 222

A new year...

A new round of challenges at Mojo Monday! 

A new month...

And that's the time for the monthly contest at Mojo Monday!

Now remember that there

Here is the sketch...

And here is my take...

I chose to use papers 

from the Midsummer Night's Dream Pixie Dust Paperie Kit from last July. What a wealth of gorgeous papers in that kit... mostly Pink Paislee and The Girls' Paperie. I love TGP Cottage Vine. I teamed it with white and a light pink cardstock along with some scraps of Kiwi paper in a pink gingham (does anyone know if they still make Kiwi?... wonderfully heavy paper... meant to be sewn).

The Distress Ink is Antique

Linen and the jewels are the Christmas Cheer Collection from TPC Studio. The two-tone rose, sprayed with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist, is from I Am Roses as are the mini leaves that were sprayed with Meadow Green. The dies used are Spellbinder's Large Standard Circles and Floral Doily Motifs... Tim Holtz Alterations Mini Tickets Set.

My sewing machine thought

it was too cold to work properly, so I was only able to stitch the main base mat. 

We now have a blanket of

snow covering our area with more on the way. Sure is pretty... as long as I can stay inside and look at it from my window. How is your weather? Any snow?

Creative Jump Start Journal

I want to share a little 

something with you that I have started for the new year. For some time now I have been wanting to do a journal of projects, art, photos, what-have-you... a type of Smash book per say... of my own design... just casual, messy, off the cuff. Well, Since I was following along with the Creative Jump Start Summit 2012, I thought this was the time to start so I don't miss out on any of these great techniques and ideas.

My granddaughter, Katie 

painted this note book and put the yarn around it. It's just perfect for what I want to do. I have plans to embellish the cover later on. This is all in it's raw state.

Day one of the "Summit"

 with Dina was filled with ideas for "warming up" before you begin to create... no more mojo loss. I jotted down notes on a scrap of white cardstock and decided to glue it directly into my journal... why copy in a neater hand? This is casual right?

Today was making an ATC

using, of all things, toilet paper. Just have to try this... Cuchy's card was gorgeous! And as an interesting note... the class was in Spanish... loved it!

When time permits, I want

to embellish the pages using the techniques I'm learning. How fun is that!!!

Do you need to rev up

your mojo? You might want to try keeping a journal this year, or buy a Smash book, or just create a new scrapbook album. Your possibilities are endless!

A Masculine Scrap Card

Hi dear friends!

First I need to apologize for 

not being around to visit you the last couple weeks. I've been able to keep up with projects, but didn't seem to have the time or energy to enter challenges or leave comments when I was able to visit your blog... I'm so sorry. I can only put it down to having a growing family and a lot of commitments. I love every minute, though!

I'd like to show you a card

that I created from those mats and scraps I had left over from the Proper Gentleman card I did a few days ago.

This card base was the

one I had cut from Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection... it's #4. The color didn't work for that first card, but I thought it was perfect for this one.

I cut the clock from the

black Core'dinations Clocks cardstock, sanded it and topped it with Tim Holtz Game Spinners.

I think it's time to move on

to something else now. My masculine stash has been pretty well replenished.
