Thank You Cards

Was able to get a few thank you cards made today!

I finally bought the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser and have used it on nearly everything.
A new tool is always at the top of my "must buy" list.

I'm really into rhinestone bling. I need to find a good sale!!!

I used my new Martha Stewart Scoring Board to make my first rosette.

I used the cardstock from my Pixie Kits... the other papers were mostly
pieces from my scrap box.  I love when I am able to thin my "inventory" down a bit. That way I can restock with new collections.
Have a Happy Day!

Happy Birthday JD

Yesterday was my son-in-laws birthday.
He is really into all things mechanical... tools... bikes... mowers... you name it!

Once again I reached for a Pixie Dust Paperie Kit and pulled out of
Springtime Pixie the October Afternoon Campfire - Animal Track and Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime - Pixie Post papers. The cardstock is American Crafts Apricot and Pine.

Stuck in a Tim Holtz Memo Pin (from the Floribunda Kit) and added
a Tim Holtz Adage Ticket that I inked with Ranger's Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Found this die cut in my stash along with the hinge clip.

The chain and fasteners are from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology collection
as is the Type Charms I used for his name. Don't you LOVE Tim Holtz products?
All in all, I think he liked his card... hope you do too!
Have a Happy Day!

Imagine... Create... Live Your Dreams

I am in LOVE with the vintage black and white/ivory
papers coming out. But if you personally know me... you must be aware of that fact because those are the colors I wear ALL THE  TIME (nearly)!

This Vanilla American Crafts cardstock  and Webster's Pages Vellum piece came
in the Springtime Pixie Kit. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger.

The scalloped circles are My Minds Eye Lost & Found - Home Sweet Home
DP and a scrap of black cardstock that I cut with a Nestabilities die... edges inked with VP.

All the girly bits and text come from a Graphic 45 Staples Stickers sheet.
The rose is Recollections and the dress form is from Tim Holtz "NEW" Alterations Collection - Sewing Room Bigz Die.

Finished off with a Lost & Found Brad and one of the black
birthday buttons from son-in-law JD adorned with a girl from the Graphic 45 Staples Stickers.
Hope you like it!
Have a Happy Day!

The Holly & The Ivy Challenge At Jingle Belles

If you're familiar with Jingle Belles you
know that their challenge each week is to make a new Christmas card, and in their words, thus avoiding holiday mayhem. Well, I am waaaayyyy behind, having made only two cards. I started out making a card to enter in the challenge and discovered I hadn't any Christmas foliage of any kind. I then found a stamp set in the top of the closet I had yet to use. Two of the stamps were holly! Yahhh for the good guys! After much trial and error, I came up with this...

I took my photos and since I had already posted once, I set everything aside.
Well, this morning when I showed the Penmaker my card, he said the one side was unfinished looking. Since I had so much trouble with the dog gone thing in the first place, I agreed and got everything back out. Now what to do... more holly, I guess!

So I stamped holly, cut holly and glued holly until I thought it finally
looked better than the way before. Added just a touch of Stickles Clear Rock Candy to the tips.

Now I'm happy! Can't say the same for the Penmaker...
the poor man... He bought some expensive wood to make a pen for a friend and has had everything go wrong that possibly can. If he ever finishes it, I'll show you the results.
Have a Happy Day!

You're Special

This "You're Special" card is, once again, made almost entirely from
the Springtime Pixie Kit from Pixie Dust Paperie.

The papers are Webster's Pages Hollywood Vogue - Foo in Film and American
Crafts Cardstock Olive. The fairy was cut from Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime - Pixie Post.

I painted the Maya Road Scalloped Chipboard Frame with Ranger's Snow Cap
Dabber paint, let it dry, then applied a coat of Mod Podge and Darice Crystal Glitter.

Squeezed a few dabs of Ranger's Stickles Glitter Glue onto one of the butterfly
cut-outs that came in the kit and attached it with a squirt of Glossy Accents. Hot glued on some of that green leaf trim and mini roses that I purchased on Etsy... Done!

This lovely card was sent to the Penmaker and me from our friend Rowland,
who is recovering from another of numerous surgeries. His talented wife made this and I wanted you to see how pretty it is. (Sorry my photography doesn't do the pastel shades justice).

Please, if you would, pray for his recovery... it's been a trial!
Have a Happy Day!

It Is Spring, Right?

I'm just a bit confused today... I know spring is here...
but 30's!!!!
Should I pack away my quilts or not?

And did I hang this up too soon?
Hope it's warmer where you are.
Have a Happy Day!

Pixie Dust Paperie March Challenge

Time again for a PDP Challenge.
Make your project ( layout, card, wall hanging, etc) based on Kirsty sketch...

This is what I came up with...

All the papers except for the music score came from the Floribunda Kit.

This is one of those fabulous buttons that came in the box of treasures from
my son-in-law. I glued some trim onto a paper circle and attached the button to make this flower.

Another German Paper Lithograph from Etsy.

Now be sure to enter the challenge because the prize is an
amazing group of goodies from American Crafts... and who wouldn't want to win this!

Your Birthday

Today is my Mother's 90th birthday.
That's a hard fact for me to accept. How can she be?!!

This is the card I made for her... nearly all of it is from my Floribunda Kit
from Pixie Dust Paperie.

The roses are from Etsy shops.

This idea I copied from Cheryl's layout when my background and alphas
spelling MOM blended together and couldn't be seen inside the ornate plate.

Added a little glitter to the A and a crystal drop to the ornate plate for some sparkle...
because my dear Mom has lots of pazazz!

Here are we three girls outside of Cracker Barrel after the big birthday breakfast
this morning (my sister is on the right, Mom and me on the left).
Have a Happy Day!
I think my Mom is!

Vintage Buttons And A Few Surprises

My son-in-law JD gave me this amazing box full of old buttons for my birthday.
Needless to say, I was thrilled to have this wonder gift bestowed upon me.

Then... I started going through them to choose out what I wanted for card embellishing...

and I found a whole lot more than just old buttons!

These little mittens I believe are made from wool felt.... and look a these teeny, tiny buttons.

The shoe buckles have rhinestones in the most beautiful pastel shades ...
they were in this little plastic box which I adore.

These two items are a real find... a Hampden watch and a button hook from
a shop in Canton, Ohio.
All in all, a perfect birthday gift!

The Penmaker's Wares

Since he retired last year, my dear hubby, aka The Penmaker,
has produced an overwhelming amount of his turned wood and acrylic pens... most of which he has given away to family, friends and even strangers. Here are a few he has on hand at the moment... never mind that last statement... after looking at this photo again, I see that several are now in the hands of new owners!

We need to purchase more of these leather cases... it's difficult dusting around these things!
They seem to be laying everywhere in his den.

Decor For A Darling

My daughter, Sarah, recently asked me if I would make her first born
(one of my three darling granddaughters) two frames with Bible verses to hang in her bedroom. I made her these:

The frames are wood so I sealed them with a coat of white acrylic paint. When
dry, I brushed on a coat of Mod Podge and topped with the selected paper and smoothed out with the edge of my wood ruler to release any air bubbles. I cut out the center with my craft knife and a #11 X-Acto blade, then trimmed all excess paper along the sides. I gave all the edges a nice, smooth finish by sanding them with a heavy duty emory board.

This is My Mind's Eye Market Street "Lovely" - French Stripe DP. The roses
and leaf trim I purchased from shops on Etsy, and the pink sheer ribbon is Joanns.

Pastel pink cardstock came from my ever increasing stash. The banner flags
and alphas are My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy - Tickled Pink Banner Stickers.

The banner is hung with bakers twine (another Etsy find) and this is the same
lace you see showing up on most every card I've made lately. This was one of those purchases you come across once in a great while and wish to tell the whole world about because of the earth shattering low price. And yes, I bought all that was on the bolt!

Have a Happy Day!

Love Notes

When the March Floribunda Kit from Pixie Dust Paperie came in the mail, the contents just took
my breath away. I ohhhed and ahhhed over each item and determined to make some pretties from the treasures sent to me. I chose out Pink Paislee's Starlight - Bright, Webster's Pages Lullaby Lane - The Arrival and Glitz Hoopla - Polka. Isn't it amazing that they all work together so well... guess that's the chief pixie's doing!

I cut the "NOTES" sentiment from the bottom of the Pink Paislee sheet of Sweetness - Love
Letters inked the edges with Ranger's Vintage Photo Distress Ink and attatched it with a Tim Holtz memo pin. Added a Prima flower, white lace and leaf trim, then scattered a couple mini butterflies about.

The doily diecut (from My Funky Valentine Kit) is also inked with Vintage Photo.
I made the "LOVE" sentiment on my Mac and inserted it into a Tim Holtz ornate plate with an attached pearl bauble. A bow of Cotton Ball seam binding ribbon and Recollections mini rose adorn the top of the plate.

This may be a bit much, but the Penmaker said to do it... so I added this glitter embossed
bird that I cut from the now much depleted sheet of American Crafts Delightful Robin Diecut paper.
I am a happy woman!
