No Journaling Art Journal Pages

I did these pages in my
art journal following Paula's Ustream Saturday night...

I've got to say,
I believe I like these pages better than any other I've done... and all due to JournalArtista's tutelage.

The background is done
almost identically to hers... of course, my stamps and stencil are different. I used Skipping Stones Design's Timeless Textures stamp set and Crafters Workshop Chevron Arrows.

The butterfly was fussy
cut from a sheet of Kaiser Craft Butterflies from their Timeless collection. It's colored with Distress Inks. I applied the CW Mini Poppies with gesso. After drying, I brushed on a second coat. I "painted" them with Festive Berries, Aged Mahogany and Forest Green Distress Inks. Then I went over them with an S Faber-Castell Pitt pen... outlining and shading.

I was so totally happy
with the out come, that I didn't even want to do any journaling on it.

Coffee scoop with acrylic handle.

A few months back
our son started taking an interest in pen making, and asked my husband for some instruction. The scoop above and the pens below are a few of the items they've made...

Hummm... I think
we're going to need another dust mask.

My Press Journal Completion

And now the rest of the story...

The back inside
and outside covers are just plain. I covered the black chipboard with the 7 Gypsies Lille paper and used  the wide eyelets. Here is completed the completed journal...

Even with trying to
keep the pages as flat as possible, this is still pretty bulky. Lots of fun to make, and will be something I can use throughout the year.
A big Thank You to Paula for the inspiration... you're the best!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Be Mine Card

I need to get
back to work. Haven't done one thing in the studio yet today. The Penmaker and I went out for breakfast and some Michaels looking. I would have said shopping, but nothing was on sale, there were no coupons this week, and nothing was on clearance that I needed. I'm guessing that all the good stuff was grabbed up over Saturday and Sunday..
I did a couple of
pages in my Press journal and made a card this weekend, which isn't a lot for two whole days. I did however find Laurel From NJ on Ustream and spent hours watching her make some fabulous mini albums a la Paula. Here is the card...

Now this is my
idea of vintage... Echo Park and My Mind's Eye papers from last year and extremely old and faded Valentine stickers. These gorgeous gems are Prima's Say It In Crystals, the heart trinket pins are by Maya Road and the flowers and leaves are I Am Roses. The paper heart doily is from my stash.

I'm linking up to:
City Crafters - Forever Mine
Craft Us Crazy - Valentines/Love/Use Red

Hope you had a
great weekend. Ours could have been better being we both were sick with sinus problems. We are considering heading down to Florida soon with a stop at Donna Downey's shop in NC. She's still in Europe, so we have to figure out out schedule. It would be fabulous to meet her. Does anyone know if she is usually in her store when she's at home (NC)? Am really wanting some more of her products, so what better way to get them. Anyway, that's the plan.

Thanks for stopping by!

Press Journal Peek

My word for the year
is "Press". So along with a Christmas "Memories" album, a Prima mixed media album, and my Creative Jump Start journal, I have started a personal journal to record my journey in 2013. Here is the beginning of my adventure...

I chose to make my
journal following the amazing Paula Phillips, aka Journal Artista, directions here. She has been on a "sabbatical" to get her health in order, and I'm thrilled that she's back again streaming on Ustream.

My cover is on a
base of black chipboard, and so far, I believe I'll be using 7 Gypsies Lille and KaiserCraft Timeless papers. The pages themselves are made from large scraps of miscellaneous papers and prepared according to Paula's instructions.

Am so excited to
get this put together and share it with you.
Hope you have a
wonderful weekend, friends. We are get a great deal of snow dumped on us right now, so I'm thinking I may be spending mine in the studio.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Start of Something Good

Do you ever sit down
to write a post and your mind goes blank? That's where I am at the moment. So much has happened today that I want to write about, but I just can't come up with the words to express it. My day started off with receiving my first email from Nathalie beginning the Creative Jump Start Summit 2013. I have been so keyed up for this, and I have to say that my expectations certainly were fulfilled. If you find that you need some reviving, be sure to join us... it's not too late to start. Check it out here.
One of my favorite
mixed media artists, Paula Phillips, has been taking a break for several months. Today I discovered that she had recorded a show on Monday, and will be back live on Ustream Saturday evening. Happy day! I find that I really
need the inspiration and encouragement of these events and videos to keep myself challenged to continue creating. Well, I'm still struggling with the words, but that is somewhat what I wanted to say.
Now, two more of
my thank you cards that I made from the My Mind's Eye Portobello Road collection (details here).

I'm sorry I haven't
been around to visit much since Christmas, but I promise to stop by your blog soon. I love you guys... and I'm really missing our visits.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have A Good Time

In looking through
my journal, I found a blank page next to the page of jump start #23 Ronda Palazzari. So I filled it in with this...

After covering the page
with gesso and then watered down craft paint, I applied a torn sheet of patterned paper... then did Paula's (Journalartistababy wipe technique.

This is Dina Wakely's
Script Heart stamp that I stamped onto patterned paper and fussy cut. Applied it atop a paper doily, rubbed on some more paint then brushed on matte Mod Podge. I outlined it with a soft charcoal pencil and smudged outward to give the shadowing effect. Kind of looks like it's popped up with foam adhesive... but its flat.

The saying is from
Ronda's art that I have pictured on that other page of my journal. Be sure to stop by her blog and see all her lovelies!

And one more pen...

from the Penmaker.

I'm so happy to
see him creating again... plus golfing!

He calls it "The Turner
Ashby Pen". He picked up that piece of branch while we were at the site in Harrisonburg, VA where Ashby was killed during the Civil War, and made the pen from a part of it. He's giving it to a friend of ours who's writing a book about the Confederate cavalryman.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for the visit!
Hugs!
