Take Note Wallet Mini

While going through

Stephanie Miller's blog Saturday morning, I came across a post from October 2009 of a really cute mini using only one 12 x 12 sheet of paper. A mini from one sheet... I had to try it immediately.

Since the finished project

didn't look very big, I thought paper with a small pattern would look best. I went with Kaisercraft's Take Note collection choosing "Report Paper"... a sort of sage green background with dainty gold, white and rust flowers  and brown foliage. The reverse side is a gold pattern.

I had this puppy completed

in no time. For the tags I just cut the 3 x 4's from the "Memories Paper" and "Memo Paper" sheets...

Two pockets inside with 

tags and a pocket with a tag on each outer side.

I added an additional

tag to the back pocket topping it with a wide eyelet and a bow. 

The flower is by Recollections; the brad is from My Mind's Eye; the hinge clip, ball chain, pearl bauble and Simplify charm are all from Idea-ology. The fibers are from Darice.

Miss Empire Scraps Mini Album

As many of you already

know, Archivers are closing all their stores across the country. I have to say, I'm broken hearted. This was the only true scrapbooking store around. The girls that work at our Fairlawn store are tops... always helpful and friendly. The Penmaker even enjoyed going in and showing the ladies his latest pens. This will be a real loss to me as well, I'm sure, of the scrapbooking community of the Akron/Canton area. We visited the store for the last time this week, so I could use what was remaining on the gift card that I received for Christmas. Since everything was marked down 50%, I was able to get the Cinch binding machine I've been wanting.

This was my first try...

not perfect, but a good beginning!

After going through one of

Stephanie Miller's older blog posts (here) and watching the video, I decided to use up some more scraps, making a mini album and binding it with my new toy tool.

The album is 4" wide

by 5.5" tall; the size of an A4 card. I used Kaisercrafts Miss Empire and a few scraps from their Take Note. Everything else was from my stash. Next time I make an album though, I'd like to do as she suggests and not put anything away but make a mini from what's left over.

Paper Bag Mini Album With 75 Cents

Stephanie Miller (With a Grin)

made a darling mini album on Prima's Ustream class a few weeks ago. It was so cute... I just had to try making one! She created hers with the Prima Delight collection, but since my order for the 6" x 6" pad hadn't arrived yet, I used Kaisercraft's 75 Cents.

Each page is made from

a folded 3.5" x 2" x 6.75" paper bag. I buy the Recollections brand at Michaels. The top of the bag now forms the end flap and can hold a gift card or a photo.

The flowers on the cover

are by Petaloo and Prima, I Am Roses leaves, May Arts natural burlap string, a Prima clock and charms from my stash.

The die cuts are from

Kaisercraft's 75 Cents Collectables, Petaloo and Prima flowers, Prima Say It In Crystals.

Transparency Mini Album

A short while back,

my blog friend, Ros... Mikey's Mom... and I did a swap of supplies and she sent me some transparency sheets that I had been wanting to make into a mini album. I've been captivated of late by the creativity of Stephanie Miller. As nearly everyone knows, she is in the forefront when it comes to mini albums. After watching her Ustream for Prima where she created a fabulous mini album with transparencies, I just had to try making one. Believe me... it wasn't as easy for me as it was for her.

I had a hard time

lining up my paper to the transparency, and in the end, I trimmed some of the edges with my Tonic scissors. Unfortunately, I'm one of whose people that are bothered by slight imperfections in their projects and I "try" to fix them all. (Probably why it takes me so long to make a project.)

The papers are all

from the Glitz Vintage Blue 6x6 pad and a few scraps of the 12x12 sheets plus the Vintage Blue Whatnots die-cuts I got from Audrey's Etsy shop last year. I thought it was time to use up this collection and make way for a new one. I'll try to give a brief description of what I used and how, but I may need to break this up into two posts... we'll see how this goes!

Experience

Another weather change

here. Much cooler and more rain. Yesterday we spent the evening watching the sky for tornados that didn't form, thankfully.

I haven't been able to

photograph any of my projects, as we only had sun two days... one some of our grandkids were here and we just had to play. The second we drove up to Brecksville. There is a Target with a full line grocery and I just had to get some of the multi grain bread from their bakery that we buy when we stay at the condo in Virginia (yeah, crazy I know... a long trip for two loaves of bread). Well, anyway... even with the rain today, I went ahead and took a couple photos of a journal page I did the first of the week...

I have been neglecting

my art journaling and felt I needed to do some creating with gesso and inks.

I brushed on a coat of Liquitex

surface prep gesso, then laid  Prima's Sunrise Sunset checkerboard stencil down while it was still wet. I dabbed on just a bit more gesso and lifted it... great effect. Dried it with my heat tool (hair dryer actually... still haven't gotten my replacement from Ranger... going on two months, I believe). Dabbed on some Vintage Photo Distress Stain, spritzed with water and let it run all down the page. Sponged on Distress Inks in Brushed Corduroy, Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo Stamped with a Bitty Grunge stamp and Brushed Corduroy DI. Put on some tissue tape and cheesecloth. Layered on 7 Gypsies paper scraps inked with Brushed Corduroy... stamped the top one with a stamp from Stuff To Say (both stamp sets are by Stampers Anonymous). I cut an arrow from kraft cardstock using Alterations Mini Old Jalopy & Arrow set. Sponged on BCDI and topped it with an Idea-ology game spinner and brad. Put more brads on the paper corners and glued on a Prima Junkyard Finding zipper that says "create".

I love the look of the

cheesecloth and the gesso squares underneath. The Penmaker wants me to make something similar on canvas, so I guess I'll give that a try some time soon. Right now I'm working on a mini album made with the transparencies that Ros sent me. It's not as easy as it looked when Stephanie Miller did it. I couldn't get the sheets to line up quite right... hope this turns out!

Pocket Box Mini Album... Stephanie Miller Inspired

In April, the dynamic

bundle of scrappy happy energy... Steff Miller, posted a fabulous Mini Album in a Box that she was inspired to make from a pin by Jenny Dahlqvist. To my sorrow, Steff didn't do a tutorial. I, among so many others, commented that we really just had to have one... please! Well, being the fantastic lady that she is, Steff came through, and last week did her Live with Prima spot showing, step by step, how to make her Pocket Box Mini. I was quite eager to follow along...
