CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #26

I've been working on lots of

different crafting materials this week. I'm having the most fun with the copper sheets I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I want to use the copper with the new Tim Holtz Alterations Dies I just bought, along with some wood frames and paper mache` boxes as well as on cards.

CAS-ual Fridays is all about

Clean And Simple and challenge #26 is creating your card using this sketch...

I once again used my versatile

Blue Moon Kit to make this masculine card that I can send for quite a few purposes... as an encouragement card, sympathy, illness, etc.

The papers are American Crafts 

Brown and Kraft Cardstock plus Hello Sunshine DP. The Distress Ink is the new seasonal Gathered Twigs.

The sentiment is an old one

from Sweet 'n Sassy. The border is cut with Martha Stewart's Traditional Scallop punch and the copper tree was cut with the new Tim Holtz Movers & Shapers Mini Pine Tree & Holly Set.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #23

I made a card today for the

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #23 in "Fall Colors".

My pretty little girl is from my

stash of images and is by Tasha Tudor. The papers are Bo Bunny's Forever Fall and Imaginisce's Happy Harvest. I used three Spellbinder's dies... Large Ovals, Large Scalloped Ovals and Labels Seventeen. The Distress Inks are Wild Honey and Gathered Twigs.

The flower was cut with Tim Holtz

Tattered Florals and Mini Branch & Leaf. It is of 38 gauge copper that I embossed with Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots Embossing Folder.

Birdsong With Blue Moon

The Blue Moon Kit for

October from Pixie Dust Paperie is chock full of fabulous papers and embellishments that coordinate beautifully! Since I can hardly bear to cut into a sheet of this exquisite loveliness, I put it off until I can no longer resist. Today was that day, and I plunged headlong into creating a card for the "Birdsong" October Challenge at PDP.

The challenge is to include

a bird or birds on your project.

Here is my take.

I added some I Am Roses

flowers and pearls to complete my "Birdsong". Hope you like it and will join in the challenge.

Grandparent's Day And A Haul

Today was Grandparent's Day.

My oldest daughter is following in my footsteps and is homeschooling two of her children. I must say she is a far superior teacher. She had a program all planned out, and the children each presented their work thus far for this year. Afterward, she had a delicious meal prepared for us all. So... no crafting today, as we are meeting our son for dinner tonight. Good thing I didn't eat breakfast!

When we arrived home this afternoon

I was surprised to find a package from ScrapAce. It came much sooner than I had anticipated. Are you familiar with them? It's something you need to check out if you haven't already. This was the deal I purchased this time...

C Is For Cycle

The weather just can't make

up its mind... is it fall or not! Yesterday was glorious and sunny... today... ugh! It didn't stop the Penmaker from a round of golf with our son, though. At least they took me to Starbuck's first before deserting me for the links. Ah... there's nothing like a cup of hot Pike Place to soothe the hurt! Ha Ha!

There is a challenge at

Scrapbookers Anonymous called A to Z and this month is the letter "C". This is mine...

"C" is for Cycle...

and for it I've used MME Lost & Found Two - Rosy "Ordinary" Adventure Paper and light green cardstock. The Distress Ink is Antique Linen.

The rosette was cut from

Basic Grey's Oxford "Sorority". My birthday sentiment was stamped from an old Scrappy Cat's set with black Archival Ink onto a scrap and fussy cut. That's it... pretty simple!

CR84FN41 Color Challenge

The color combo for the challenge

at CR84FN for the next two weeks is Steel Blue, Gray and Yellow. Here is my take...

This is a combination of

papers from two of My Mind's Eye 6 x 6 Designer Paper Pads... Lost & Found "Portobello Road" and So Sophie "Graceful".

My embellishments are

a Melissa Frances Vintage Frame, Making Memories Metal Flowers and a Recollections Pearl Flourish. I also used a bit of 4mm flat backed pearl trim from my stash.

The flowers are from I Am 

Roses and Recollections. The borders were cut with Martha Stewart's Tradtional Scallop and Scallop Dot and Die-namics Jumbo Scallop. The Distress Ink is Antique Linen.

My card from last week's

challenge was chosen as one of the Terrific Top 3. Yahhh Hoooo... I'm so excited and feel so very honored. Thank you to Mona and to all the other sweet ladies at CR84FN! I'm really enjoying participating in their color challenges. Hope you'll join in, too!

The Kraft Journal Challenge #42 and The Penmaker's Fountain Pen

"Anything Goes"

at The Kraft Journal this week.

The perfect challenge for my little pizza box that I learned to make here. I have been hanging out on You Tube for the last month, finding tons of great crafting ideas. When Sherry posted this one, I just had to try it.

The box is made from Basic

Grey's Oxford "Lacrosse" and the band is my favorite Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock and Basic

Grey's Oxford "Sorority". 

I made the flower using Tim 

Holtz Tattered Florals Sizzix Die with a sheet of copper and the Lacrosse DP. I inked the edges with Old Paper Distress Ink. For the leaves, I used Tim's Movers & Shapers Mini Branch & Leaf Set, cutting them from the copper. I then dabbed on some Oregano Alcohol Ink to give it some texture and a bit of color. 

The stained grungy tag is one 

from the Designers Assortment. My sentiment is from an old Sweet 'n Sassy set stamped with Vintage Photo DI. The rhinestone is from Recollections.

The wood is Amboyna Burl.

The works are an "Elegant" component set... Titanium Gold and Rhodium.

Masculine Altered Birthday Card

This is a card I made a few

weeks ago for a challenge. When I needed a masculine birthday card, I saw that this would be ideal with just a few changes. 

Using the Tim Holtz Tattered

Leaves Die, I cut a leaf from a piece of copper and added it to the Kraft leaves and bow. I changed out the tag to one stamped with Happy Birthday.

The image and bauble were removed

and replaced with a stamped tree and verse from an old Sweet 'n Sassy set. I think this was much more fitting for the recipient, and over all, I like it better. What do you think?

I find making sympathy cards

harder than any other. I made this one from the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Two "Breeze" 6 x 6 Designer Pad and white cardstock.

The borders are made from a

Traditional Scallop Martha Stewart punch and Die-namics Jumbo Scallop die. The white crocheted lace is from my stash.

These dies are Spellbinder's Scalloped 

Ovals and Classic Ovals Large. The Distress Ink is Antique Linen. My sentiment is from an old set from Sweet 'n Sassy and the ink is black Archival.

The Kraft Journal Challenge #41

This is my second post for today.

"Spooky Stuff" is the challenge

at The Kraft Journal for this week, and my entry is another Tim Holtz tag...

Remember on Tuesday, I showed 

you the free tag I got to make at Archiver's Tim Holtz Week? Well before I made that one, my favorite clerk was showing me how to begin and I didn't get things lined up just right. So she gave me that tag to take home and play around with... which is exactly what I did. Can I show you how I created this second one?....

Since I was planning on making

a heavy weight flower, I had to reinforce the tag first. I did this with my favorite Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock from Kraft Outlet. I distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and my Tim Holtz Paper Distresser.

I then taped the two together.

If it's spooky, you have goosebumps,

right? So I gave it a spray! Watch out with this stuff... I didn't use my spraying box... just laid it on my desk and went to town on it. Bad idea... my whole desk is now covered in Goosebumps!

Next up... my flower. I used my 

Sizzix Tattered Florals die with some copper sheets and again the Lunch Bag Kraft. I distressed the Kraft with Vintage Photo DI.

Shape the petals by slightly bending 

each around the handle of a thin paint brush...

then a bit of a bend back on the tips.

Do each petal this way, then hot

glue the layers. I push them down together with the end of my brush and hold for a couple seconds.

After it's put together, I like to

play around with the petals getting them the way I want. Then hot glue it to the tag.

I tied on some variegated seam

binding and a Tim Holtz Muse Token. I'm really happy with this tag that most likely would have ended up in the trash.

City Crafter Challenge #79

Our Hostess at CCCB, Ros Crawford,

has given a challenge of "Harvest Festival"... create a project that relates to the harvest of the land.

Here is mine...

Along with white canvas texture Core'dinations

are Authentique Blissful "Happiness", Webster's Pages Spring Market "Sweet Jam" and Bo Bunny Forever Fall "Blaze" papers. The florals are from I Am Roses, sprayed with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist and stuck with a Maya Road Leaf Trinket Pin. The sentiment was stamped with an old set from Sweet 'n Sassy and black Archival Ink.

I cut two of the tall pumpkin from my Sizzix

Pumpkins #2 die and cut out the center portion of one and applied it with foam adhesive on top of the other. I inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink which I also used through out. It sits atop a double die cut of Spellbinder's Lacy Circles and Classic Circles Large.

with Spellbinder's Scalloped Circles Large and Classic Circles Large. I also used some Michael's white satin ribbon and TPC Studio "Reel Me In" jewels.

Trifold Window Card

I just love to watch You Tube

crafting videos. I subscribe to several, but one of my favorites is The Night Owl Scrapper. After watching her tutorial on making a trifold window card, I just had to try it with the new Authentique Glowing "Diffused" DP and Petite Type Square Alphas.

I teamed these up with a 

sheet of green cardstock and cut them both using Spellbinder's Labels One. I distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The florals are all from I Am Roses and the brads are Teresa Collins Christmas Home.

The sentiment is on dies

cut from Spellbinder's Scalloped Ovals Large and Classic Ovals Large popped up with 3-D foam adhesive squares.

The inside window is left flanked

with a TPC Studio Autumn Harvest stamp in black Archival Ink that I fussy cut and glittered up with Stickles Shabby Shutters.

A very fun project that I'll try 

to tackle again. This was easy, but for me a bit time consuming with this first one. I'm entering it in the following challenges:

Tim Holtz Week

It's Tim Holtz Week at Archiver's!

At our store in Akron, you can make a 

free project using Tim's new Halloween Sillouettes Stamp and Texture Fade Embossing Folder. Here's how mine turned out...

After applying Distress Stains
to the stamp, I just pressed it onto the tag with my fingers. Then lining it up with the text on the texture fade, we ran it through the Vagabond. I distressed the edges with the paper distresser and Rusty Hinge DI. The skull and bat were cut with his new Movers & Shapes Die Set.

Here is a close-up of the letter-press
look you get using the stamp and texture fade together. I don't celebrate halloween, but I would love to have the Thanksgiving or the Christmas Sets. Think of the amazing projects you could make using the two products together.
